The Resident Geek…

I’m Jen, and I’m a professional nerd.

Fun Facts About Me:

- I’m the biggest Muse fan you’ll ever meet.  Aside from having two of their songs tattooed around my forearms, in the span of less than a year, I went to 11 shows and took two trips to Europe to see them.

- I am a DIEHARD Manchester United football (soccer to you Yanks) fan.

- I take a good deal of pride in my nerdy tattoo collection.  Currently I have two Muse songs around my forearms, lyrics from a Brand New song written in Latin, lyrics from a Straylight Run song written in John Nolan’s handwritting, the album artwork from Matthew Good Band’s “Beautiful Midnight”, a Harry Potter spell, Ed and Al Elric’s transmutation symbols from Full Metal Alchemist and the Little Sister from the video game Bioshock.  I also have a grand total of 15 stars scattered all over my body.  After years of thought and planning, I finally started working on one of my half sleeve tattoos.  My left arm is in the process of being turned into a giant outer space themed piece.

- I love to cook, take great pride in it, and love feeding anyone that’s willing to stop by.  My all-time cooking heroes are my grandma and Alton Brown.  I’m currently working on a project involving recreating every recipe in the three recipe boxes my mom passed along to me when my grandma died in 1999.  Those boxes are my most prized possessions in this world.

- I was diagnosed with Bipolar II disorder when I was 13.  Thanks to improper cocktails of medication, I can’t remember a good chunk of my high school years and still have issues with my long-term memory.  I’m proud to say that I’ve been off medication for over 8 years now, and I’ve learned how to both control and embrace my mood swings so I can still function and not let it affect my day-to-day life.
